piastra

After measuring various back pockets, we found they were surprisingly spacious. So we designed this wallet to fit snugly without shifting around, which resulted in a product that doesn’t quite look like a ‘small wallet’ at first glance. The generous vertical and horizontal dimensions make it easy to store around 5–6 cards comfortably. For convenience, we also added an outer pocket for things like transit IC cards that you frequently take in and out. At the same time, we placed great importance on keeping the wallet slim.

The coin pocket is modestly placed above the card slots and is quite shallow. While this makes coins easy to see and retrieve, it doesn’t hold a large quantity.* In the sample photos, we placed 5 × 100 yen coins and 10 × 10 yen coins. If you don’t often carry coins, this pocket can also be used to store a key. The coin pocket’s flap is folded and stitched to create a slight bulge in the center, allowing it to hold a bit more than expected.

Since the wallet is wider than most banknotes worldwide, we added a leather guide inside to help bills fit neatly. (Bills are stored behind the piece of leather shown behind the guide paper.)

piastra is specifically designed for carrying in your back pocket, so if you toss it loosely into a bag, there’s a chance coins might fall out. We recommend slipping it into an interior or exterior pocket when carrying it. For leather, we used our familiar Minerva Liscio, and this lineup also includes some color options we haven’t used much before.

Please note: due to the large number of stitched leather parts in the piastra, we are currently unable to offer a left-handed version for production or sale.
