CIPANGO proudly marked its third consecutive year at the prestigious Surface Design Show in 2025, bringing the essence of Japan’s rich artisanal heritage to London. Positioned in the exact same space as the previous years, our booth has become a familiar and anticipated highlight for visitors, showcasing a vibrant fusion of tradition and innovation.

This year, the CIPANGO booth featured six remarkable Japanese partners, each representing unique craftsmanship steeped in heritage but reimagined for modern design. Visitors were drawn to the immersive and tactile experience of our displays, from the woven wood and metal exhibits to stunning lacquer panels and textiles inspired by centuries-old Japanese motifs. The interactive nature of the booth allowed attendees to not only observe but truly engage with the materials—feeling their textures, unfolding their stories, and immersing themselves in their narratives.

What truly set us apart was our focus on artistry. Unlike other booths that leaned on sleek, corporate presentations, CIPANGO’s was a thoughtful and original showcase, described by many as a work of art in itself. This sentiment was echoed by show organizers and attendees, some of whom hailed our booth as one of the most interesting displays at the event.

One of the highlights of the show was the introduction of Tennâge, a patented flexible wood veneer developed by 01 Products, which captivated architects and designers with its groundbreaking ability to bend and curve like fabric. Another standout was Paranomad’s upcycled textiles, which blend contemporary art sensibilities with sustainable practices.

As always, the Surface Design Show presented the opportunity to connect with a global audience, with visitors from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond expressing their admiration for CIPANGO’s unique offerings. While European attendees gravitated toward natural materials and sustainable designs, visitors from other regions were drawn to the bold, shiny metallic textures.

The 2025 Surface Design Show solidified CIPANGO’s role as a bridge between Japan’s rich heritage and the global design world. We are deeply grateful for the enthusiastic reception and look forward to returning next year with even more to share.
